Santa Clarita Sports Report: January 09, 2015: The Canyon girls basketball team beat Garfield, 58-38. Alexa Porchia scored 29 points. Delaney McCann scored 20 points and had nine rebounds.

The Canyon girls improved to 11-3.

The Golden Valley boys basketball team lost to Paraclete, 66-54, in the Antelope Valley Tournament.

Paraclete plays Antelope Valley in one semifinal in the tournament.

In softball, West Ranch High graduate Janelle Lindvall, was selected to the U.S. national softball team.

Lindvall, a catcher on the University of Oregon softball team, is one of five first-year players on the national team.

She is one of three players from the University of Oregon on the team.

The United States will play in the World Cup of Softball in July in Irvine. The team will play in the Pan American Games in Canada later in July.

In the NHL, the Kings lost to the visiting New York Rangers, 4-3. The Rangers scored three goals in the second period to take a 4-2 lead.
