Santa Clarita Sports Report: January 13, 2015: The Hart boys basketball team is ranked No. 6 in the CIF Southern Section Division 2A poll.

The Canyon boys are ranked No. 15 in the Southern Section Division 2AA poll.

The two teams meet tonight in the Foothill League opener.

Hart is 9-5 and won seven of its past eight games.

Canyon is 10-8 and coming off a 57-44 win over Highland.

The game is at Hart. Tip-off is at 6:30.

In college football, Ohio State beat Oregon, 42-20, to win the first ever playoff for the national championship.

Ohio State led 21-10 at halftime and scored 21 points in the second half.

In the NHL, the Kings shut out the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs, 2-0, and snapped a three-game losing streak.

Martin Jones made 19 saves for his seventh career shutout. Anza Kopitar scored a goal and had an assist.

The Kings take on the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night.
