Santa Clarita High School Boys Basketball

Hart (13-7, 2-2) and Whitten Dominguez secured their second Foothill League victory with a 76-60 win on the road against Golden Valley (9-11, 3-1) in the KHTS Game of the Night.

Whitten Dominguez led the Hart Indians with 24 points and Ben Kaufman was close behind him with 20 points. Milan Taylor put up 16 points for Golden Valley in the teams effort. This game provided some fireworks early as Milan Taylor was called for a technical foul for stepping on the stomach of Hart’s Luca Robinson.

With Hart’s win against Golden Valley, the Grizzlies are no longer perfect in league play. Golden Valley will play West Ranch Tuesday the 24th. Hart will get ready to play Valencia on the 24th as well.

Valencia (11-9, 3-1) are now tied atop the Foothill League as the Vikings earned their third win in a row with a 62-58 home victory over Saugus (13-6, 2-2). The Vikings will play Western today at home. Saugus will play Birmingham today in the Warriors Showcase at Heritage Christian.

West Ranch (10-9, 2-2) have won back-to-back Foothill League games since losing their first two with a 59-52 win over Canyon (5-15, 0-4).

Santa Clarita Christian (8-3, 2-0) will go up against Trinity Classical Academy (6-13, 1-2) tonight at 7:00 p.m.

Santa Clarita High School Girls Basketball

10 Valencia (17-4, 4-0) held off Saugus (10-12, 2-2) with a 60-25 win. The Vikings defense came out to play holding Saugus to one point in the second quarter.

Hart (8-11, 3-1) played a strong defensive game with a 71-63 win at Golden Valley (8-12, 0-4).

Canyon (12-8, 3-1) dominated West Ranch (5-16, 0-4) with a 59-21 win. Alaina Garcia led the Cowboys with 12 points and collected three assists. Talia Taufaasau had 10 points and led the team with five assists.

Santa Clarita Christian (7-1, 2-0) will travel to Trinity Classical Academy (8-6, 0-2) tonight, tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

3 Valencia (11-2-3, 4-0) bagged four goals in the second half against 10 Saugus (9-5-3, 3-1) to win 4-0 and to remain perfect in the Foothill League.

Golden Valley (1-9-2, 0-2-1) vs. 4 Hart (12-4-2, 2-1) will be played today, originally the game was to be played yesterday, but due to weather conditions the game will be played this morning at 10 a.m.

West Ranch (3-5-1, 1-3) earned their first Foothill League win with a 2-0 win over Canyon (0-12-5, 0-3-1).

Santa Clarita High School Girls Soccer

Valencia (10-5-2, 3-0-1) have yet to lose this season in the Foothill League and won their third league game with a 2-0 win over Saugus (5-9-3, 1-1-2).

Canyon (5-8-2, 1-1-1) vs. West Ranch (6-3-5, 0-0-3) was postponed due to weather, both teams will make up the game this morning.

College of the Canyons Basketball

The Cougars (10-10) are back in action as they get set to host LA Pierce today at 3:oo p.m. The COC Cougars are on a five game winning streak and have seen their record climb to the .500 mark.

Greg Herrick and his team will be looking to snap a three game losing streak tonight as the Cougars (5-13) will host LA Pierce tonight at 5:00 p.m.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers snap a five game losing streak against the Indian Pacers with a 108-96 win at home.

Lou Williams led the team once again with 27 points off the bench. Julius Randle also had 16 points and five rebounds in the win for the Lakers. Nick Young hit five 3-pointers to collect 15 points, and Brandon Ingram also totaled 15 points.

A scary moment for D’Angelo Russell as he left the game early in the first quarter with an injury to his right knee. He would not return and it would be later diagnosed as a sprained ligament in his knee. Nick Young also had a scare as he hyperextended his knee, but did return to play in the third quarter.

The Lakers will play the Dallas Mavericks on the road tomorrow, Tip-off is scheduled for 12:30 PST.
