Santa Clarita Sports Report: January 23, 2015: The College of the Canyons women’s basketball team beat West LA College, 67-59, in a Western State Conference game.
Monica Friedl posted a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds for COC.
Nayiri Aslanian scored 15 points and had nine rebounds.
The Lady Cougars improved to 13-7 and 3-2 in conference.
The College of the Canyons men’s basketball team lost to West LA College, 65-60, in a Western State Conference game.
The COC men dropped to 10-8 and 2-3 in conference.

In high school soccer, the Hart boys shut out Saugus, 2-0, and ran their record to 3-0 in the Foothill League.
Allen Villasenor scored in the first half for Hart. Niall Shaffery made it 2-0 with a goal in the 47th minute.
Hart improved to 15-1-2 overall. Saugus lost its first league game and dropped to 2-1.
The West Ranch boy shut out Canyon, 2-0. Bailey Corona and Carlos Porcayo scored for West Ranch.
The Wildcats are 2-1 in the Foothill League.

The Valencia boys beat Golden Valley, 2-1.
On the girls side, Valencia beat Golden Valley, 2-1, and won its first Foothill League game of the season.
Saugus and Hart played to a scoreless draw. Saugus leads the Foothill League standings with a 2-0-1 record. Hart is in second place at 1-0-2.
The Canyon girls best West Ranch 2-1.
The Santa Clarita Christian girls played to a 1-1 draw against Pacifica Christian.
Lauren Gallagher scored the lone goal for Santa Clarita Christian.

The Clippers have won four of their past five games.
