Santa Clarita Sports Report: July 17, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: July 17, 2015 – Santa Clarita’s Jonathan Chang finished in eighth place at the American Junior Golf Association Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior tournament at Serrano Country Club in El Dorado.

Chang shot a 1-over 73 in the final round. He was 1-over for the tournament and was in a three-way tie for eighth place.

Chang will be a senior at Golden Valley in the fall.

Eddy Lai from San Jose won the tournament. He was 6-under and shot a 3-under 69 in the final round.

In the NBA, the Clippers and free agent Josh Smith agreed on a one-year deal. Smith was reportedly signed by the Clippers for the veterans’ minimum, $1.5 million.

He played last season with the Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons. In 11 NBA seasons, Smith has averaged 15.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers are back on the field tonight after the All Star break.

The Dodgers take on the Nationals in Washington, D.C.

Clayton Kershaw gets the start for the Dodgers. The reigning Cy Young Award winner and National League MVP is 6-6 at the All Star break.

Jordan Zimmermann starts for the Nationals.
