Santa Clarita Sports Report: July 22, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: July 22, 2015 – The Hart baseball team lost to Woodland Hills West, 7-5, in the championship game of the Valley Invitational Baseball League tournament.

Woodland Hills West, made up of players from El Camino Real High, scored four runs in the first inning and two more in the second.

Woodland Hills West won its first Valley Invitational Baseball League championship since 2005.

Hart went 14-5 in the summer baseball league. The Indians beat Canyon, Crespi and Camarillo to reach the championship game of the tournament.

In other baseball news, five players from the Santa Clarita Valley were selected to the Max Preps All American team.

Austin Russ and Jack Ralston from Hart were selected to the first team.

Valencia’s Scott Ogrin earned a spot on the first team. Devin Davis, his teammate at Valencia, was selected to the All State second team.

Hunter Greene from Stevenson Ranch is on the first team as well. He plays for the Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks baseball team.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers lost to the Braves, 4-3. The Dodgers have lost two in a row to the Braves.

The Dodgers and Braves wrap up their series this morning in Atlanta. Mike Bolsinger starts for the Dodgers against Julio Teheran for the Braves.
