Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers (54-43) are in St. Louis in a battle of two of the three teams closest in the Wild Card race. The Cardinals are two games out of the top spot that the Dodgers hold, so this will be as big a series gets in July.

Brandon McCarthy (who has been dominant since his DL stint with a 2-0 record and 1.69 ERA) will make the start today for Los Angeles, facing Michael Wacha (5-7, 4.45 ERA). Be sure to listen live on AM-1220 KHTS for all the action with first pitch at 5:15 PM.

TURNER HEATING UP: Since June 8, Justin Turner has raised his batting average 47 points by hitting .333 with 13 home runs over the six-week span.

INJURIES: the Disabled List is heavy right now, with Clayton Kershaw, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Alex Wood, Andre Ethier, and Trayce Thompson on the list with nagging injuries.  Yasiel Puig tweaked his hamstring this week and we are awaiting word on the severity.

RUMORS: Tampa Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer is being targeted by the Dodgers and LA is reportedly the frontrunner to land him at the trade deadline.
