Santa Clarita Sports Report: July 24, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: July 24, 2015 – West Ranch High graduate Janelle Lindvall hit a three-run triple in Team USA’s 11-0 win over the Dominican Republic at the Pan American Games in Toronto.

The United States scored six runs in the first inning and added five more in the second. Lindvall was 1-for-2 in the game with the three RBIs.

The game was called after four innings because of the mercy rule. Jaclyn Traina and Sara Nevins combined for a no-hitter.

The United States went 5-0 in pool play at the Pan American Games. The team advanced to the semifinal round of the tournament.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers shut out the Mets, 3-0, in New York.

Clayton Kershaw took a perfect game into the seventh inning. Curtis Granderson singled in the seventh inning to break up the perfect game. Kershaw gave up only three hits, struck out 11 and walked none.

He has a 29 scoreless inning streak. He also has 38 strikeouts without giving up a walk in his past three starts.

The Dodgers and Mets continue their series tonight. Ian Thomas starts for the Dodgers against Jonathon Niese for the Mets.
