Santa Clarita Sports Report: July 27, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: July 27, 2015 – West Ranch High graduate Janelle Lindvall went 2-for-3 for Team USA in the gold medal softball game against Canada at the Pan American Games.

But the United States lost to Canada, 4-2, in extra innings and took the silver medal.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie through seven innings. Canada scored four runs in the eighth inning to break the tie.

The United States rallied for two runs, but lost for the first time at the Pan American Games.

In golf, Valencia High graduate Alison Lee finished in a tie for eighth place at the Meijer LPGA Classic at Blythefield Country Club.

She was 11-under for the tournament and finished seven shots off the lead.

Lexi Thompson won the tournament and was 18-under.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers lost to the Mets, 3-2, in extra innings.

Zack Greinke had his scoreless inning streak snapped in the third inning. He gave up a run for the first time in 45 2/3 innings.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers scored two runs in the ninth inning to tie the score. But the Mets scored a run in the 10th inning to win the game.

The Dodgers split their series against the Mets, but lost the last two games.
