Santa Clarita Sports Report: July 30, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: July 30, 2015 – The Valencia girls volleyball team won the bronze division at the Foothill Invitational tournament.

The Valencia girls went 9-1 in the tournament.

The Hart girls finished in third place in the silver division. They beat Burroughs of Burbank in the third-place match and went 3-4 in the tournament.

The Saugus girls finished in fifth place in the bronze division. The Canyon girls were sixth in the bronze division.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers traded for a couple of starters and got some bullpen help.

The Dodgers acquired Mat Latos and Michael Morse for the Miami Marlins. They also got starter Alex Wood and closer Jim Johnson from the Atlanta Braves.

The Dodgers sent three pitching prospects to the Marlins and two minor leaguers and reliever Paco Rodriguez to the Braves.

On the field, the Dodgers beat the visiting Oakland A’s, 10-7, scoring five runs in the seventh inning to take the lead in the game.

Yasiel Puig hit a two-run home run and drove in three runs in the game.

Kike Hernandez gave the Dodgers the lead with a two-run double in the seventh inning.

The Dodgers have the day off today. They start a weekend series against the Angels on Friday night.
