Santa Clarita Sports Report – June 15, 2018

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers open an important NL West series with the rival San Francisco Giants tonight at Chavez Ravine. The Giants are only two games back of Los Angeles in a clustered division.

2018 FIFA World Cup

Group play continues today with A finishing up its first matches and B getting underway.

Uruguay scored a late goal (89th minute) to defeat Egypt 1-0, moving to the top of Group A with Russia. The Russians currently own the tiebreaker with a +5 goal differential (goal differential is the first tiebreaker when teams are even on points) to Uruguay’s +1.

In Group B, Iran picked up a late goal against Morocco of the own goal variety, as a header went off a Moroccan player and into the team’s own net. The Iranians pick up three points with the 1-0 victory, despite conceding possession to Morocco 68-32.
