Santa Clarita Sports Report: June 16, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: June 16, 2015 – Valencia High’s Devin Davis has decided to start his professional baseball career.

Davis was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 25th round of the Major League Baseball draft.

He committed to Loyola Marymount to play college baseball, but decided to play for the Rays instead.

Davis hit .413 with six home runs and 26 RBIs in his senior season at Valencia.

In the NHL, the Chicago Blackhawks shut out the Tampa Bay Lightning, 2-0, and won the Stanley Cup championship.

The Blackhawks won the series in six games. It is their third Stanley Cup championship in the past six years.

Duncan Keith and Patrick Kane scored for the Blackhawks. Keith won the Conn Smythe Trophy and the MVP of the finals.

In the NBA, the Clippers traded for Lance Stephenson is a three-player deal with the Charlotte Hornets.

The Clippers sent Matt Barnes and Spencer Hawes to the Hornets for Stephenson.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers lost to the Texas Rangers, 4-1. The Rangers scored four runs in the sixth inning to take a 4-0 lead.

The Dodgers and the Rangers continue their series today. Brett Anderson starts for the Dodgers against Chi Chi Gonzalez for the Rangers.

First pitch is at 5:05.
