Santa Clarita Sports Report: June 2, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: June 2, 2015 – The Hart and Saugus baseball teams meet today in the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.

Hart beat JSerra, 10-6, in their quarterfinal game.

Saugus eliminated Arlington, 3-2, scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The game is at College of the Canyons. First pitch is at 2.

In high school track and field, six athletes from the Foothill League are moving on to the CIF State meet in Clovis.

Brian Zabilski from Saugus set a Santa Clarita Valley record in the 3,200 winning the race in 8 minutes, 49.38 seconds.

West Ranch’s Nathan Bultman advanced in two events, the shot put and the discus. He was second in the shot put and sixth in the discus.

Golden Valley’s Nikaela Harris also advanced in two events, the shot put and the discus.

Samantha Ortega from Saugus advanced in the 3,200 with a second-place finish.

Bianca Tinoco from Golden Valley will compete in the 800.

Max Cawley from West Ranch advanced in the triple jump.

The CIF State Track and Field meet is at Buchanan High School and starts on Saturday.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers beat the Rockies in Colorado, 11-4. The Dodgers scored six runs in the sixth inning to take an 8-2 lead.

Los Angeles Sports

The Dodgers and Rockies are back on the field this afternoon for the first game of a doubleheader.

First pitch is at 12:10.
