Santa Clarita Sports Report: June 23, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: June 23, 2015 – Two players from Hart were selected to the All-CIF Southern Section Division 1 baseball first team. Two players from Santa Clarita Christian were selected to the All-CIF Southern Section Division 7 baseball first team.

Shortstop Scott Ogrin and pitcher Jack Ralston are on the All-CIF first team.

Ogrin led the Southern Section in hitting with a .509 batting average and in hits with 56.

Ralston had a 2.03 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 78 1/3 innings pitched.

Noah Dent and Clint Ross are on the All-CIF first team in the Southern Section Division 7. Dent was the Heritage League MVP. Ross was the Heritage League pitcher of the year.

Six more players from the Santa Clarita Valley were selected to the All-CIF second team.

Chase Wheatcroft from Saugus, Devin Davis from Valencia and Austin Russ from Hart are on the Division 1 second team.

Joe Sparks and Tommy Curry from Santa Clarita Christian and Caleb Wilson from Trinity Classical Academy are on the Division 7 second team.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers lost to the Chicago Cubs, 4-2. The Dodgers have lost three of their past four games and six of their past eight.

Clayton Kershaw took the loss. He dropped to 5-5.

The Dodgers and Cubs take the field again today in Chicago.

Zack Greinke starts for the Dodgers against Jason Hammel for the Cubs.

First pitch is at 5:05.
