Santa Clarita Sports Report: June 9, 2015 – Nathan Bultman from West Ranch earned a spot on the CIF All-State Track and Field team after a second-place finish in the shot put.

Bultman reached the finals in two events at the CIF State Track and Field meet in Clovis. He won the silver medal in the shot put with a throw of 63 feet, 11 ¼ inches. The top-six athletes in each event were selected to the All-State team.

Bultman was seventh in the discus and narrowly missed being an All-State selection in two events.

Bianca Tinoco from Golden Valley reached the finals in the 800 meter race. She was eighth in 2 minutes, 11.94 seconds.

A pair of Saugus runners ended their high school careers in the state finals in the 3,200 race.

Samantha Ortega was 11^th in the girls race in 10 minutes, 31.28 seconds.

Brian Zabilski was 15^th in the boys race in 9 minutes, 15.49 seconds. Zabilski came into the race with the fastest time in the state in the 3,200. He won the 3,200 race at the Masters Meet last week.

In soccer, the Santa Clarita Blue Heat women’s team lost to the Seattle Sounders, 2-0. The Blue Heat were shut out for the second game in a row. They are 1-3 after their first four games.

The Blue Heat play the Sounders again in Seattle on Wednesday.

In the NHL, the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-2, in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Lightning lead the series, 2-1. Game 4 is in Chicago on Wednesday night.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 9-2. Jimmy Rollins and Andre Ethier each hit three-run home runs.

The Dodgers and Diamondbacks continue their series tonight at Dodger Stadium. Carlos Frias starts for the Dodgers against Robbie Ray for the Diamondbacks.
