Santa Clarita Sports Report: March 03, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: March 03, 2015 – Canyon High graduate Alysia Montano won the 600 meters at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Boston.

Montano gave birth to her first child six months ago. She won the race in 1 minute, 26.59 seconds.

Ajee Wilson, her biggest rival in the race, tripped and fell during the race. She finished in last place.

Montano won the first 600 meters indoor national championship of her career.

In high school wrestling, Chance Rich, a freshman at Valencia High, reached the CIF Southern Section Masters Meet in Ontario.

He went 2-3 at the Masters Meet and fell short of advancing to the state finals.

Rich was the only wrestler from the Santa Clarita Valley to reach the Masters Meet. Valencia and the Trinity Classical Academy each sent three wrestlers to the Southern Section Division finals.

In the NBA, the Clippers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves, 110-105, and won their third game in a row.

Next up for the Clippers are the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.

In the NHL, the Kings take on the Oilers in Edmonton tonight. The Kings have lost three games in a row. They are coming off a 5-2 loss against the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday.
