Less than a day removed from draining the game-winning shot to send UNC to the Final Four, Tarheels forward Luke Maye showed up to his 8am Monday morning class. He was given a standing ovation.

Friday’s Foothill League scoreboard:

Canyon 0

A triple and three RBI each for the Brothers’ Camacho (Jovan and Ryan). The Wildcats had ten hits and scored ten runs. As the season wears on for Canyon, that elusive win gets even tougher to come by.

So rough for Canyon, that the Cowboys have been shut out seven times in 12 losses after Saturday’s double header at St. John Bosco.

Golden Valley 7

Valencia 9

UCSB-commit Ben Fariss earned the victory, allowing two earned runs in five innings and Long Beach State-commit Trace Eldridge continued his dominance at the plate with three more hits (leading the Foothill League with a .581/.837/.660 slash line).

Saturday, the Vikings were humbled in a non-league double header by JSerra, losing 11-3 and 22-5.

Saugus 3

Hart 4

The Indians climbed back to 2-2 in league on Matt Elser’s walk-off RBI in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Hart’s riding a four-game winning streak with Saturday’s 3-1 win over Mira Costa.

Trinity Classical Academy 3

The Knights won their Heritage League opener on the road, their second win this season (2-4).

Santa Clarita Christian 17

Hillcrest Christian 2

The Cardinals get the blowout win at Hart Park thanks to a 14-run second inning.

Vikings have won five of their past six games.

TMU Baseball

The Mustangs lost the first game of the series at Arizona Christian, 9-4, but rallied in the final two games of the series for wins (11-9 and 8-7). TMU is 17-17 overall, 8-10 in the GSAC and hosts San Diego Christian this Friday.

COC Athletics

COC Baseball exploded in the third game of the series against Victory Valley with a 17-5 series sweeping win. Rightfielder Chris May has a big game, going 4-for-5 with a home run and six RBI in the win. Canyons (14-9) has won seven of eight WSC games to start the conference season and has a series with Barstow this week, starting Tuesday. COC shutout Barstow, 12-0 on March 11.

COC Softball is riding a five-game winning streak with Monday’s 8-0 blanking of Citrus. Danielle Chatman hit a 3-run shot in the bottom of the first inning and the Cougars never looked back. Canyons is 18-4-1 on the season and
