Santa Clarita Sports Report: May 11, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: May 11, 2015 – The West Ranch softball team won the Foothill League title with a little surprise help from Golden Valley.

West Ranch beat Canyon, 9-6, and won its 10th game in a row.

Jaclyn Napoli went 2-for-2 with a double and drove in four runs.

West Ranch is 8-0 in the Foothill League and won its fourth straight league title.

Golden Valley beat Valencia, 12-6, to win its third league game in a row.

Golden Valley scored seven runs in the third inning to take an 11-6 lead.

Miranda Escalera was 3-for-4 with a home run and drove in four runs for Golden Valley.

Golden Valley is 3-5 in the Foothill League. Valencia dropped to 5-3.

In high school baseball, Hart beat Golden Valley, 12-3. Jack Ralston drove in three runs for Hart. The Indians are in first place in the Foothill League with a 10-2-1 record.

Golden Valley dropped to 3-10.

The Saugus baseball team beat West Ranch, 5-4. Joey Mendez knocked in two runs with a double for Saugus.

Saugus is in second place in the Foothill League at 9-3-1. West Ranch is 6-7.

The Valencia baseball team beat Canyon, 13-3. Cole Kleszcz hit two home runs and drove in five runs for Valencia.

Valencia improved to 9-4 in the Foothill League. Canyon dropped to 1-12.

In auto racing, Gabby Chaves, driving for Bryan Herta Autosport, was 15th in the Verizon IndyCar Series Grand Prix of Indianapolis.

Will Power won the race.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies, 9-5. Justin Turner hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning to break a 5-5 tie.

Los Angeles Sports

The Dodgers have won three games in a row.

The Dodgers are back home to start a series against the Miami Marlins tonight. Zack Greinke starts for the Dodgers against Tom Koehler for the Marlins. First pitch is at 7:10.

In the NBA, the Clippers beat the Houston Rockets, 128-95, in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals.

The Clippers are up 3-1 in the series. Game 5 is in Houston on Tuesday.
