Santa Clarita Sports Report: May 13, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: May 13, 2015 – The Valencia boys volleyball team won its first-round match in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs.

Valencia swept Arcadia in three games to advance to the second round. The Valencia boys are the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.

The Canyon boys won their first playoff match in nine years. They beat Temple City in four games in their first round playoff match.

In high school softball, West Ranch beat Saugus, 9-2, in a Foothill League game. Jaclyn Napoli hit a grand slam for West Ranch. The Wildcats are undefeated in the Foothill League at 9-0.

The Valencia softball team shut out Canyon, 4-0. Erin Andris hit a two-run home run for Valencia.

The Hart softball team beat Golden Valley, 14-2. Sierra Vannoy hit a grand slam for Hart.

In the NBA, the Clippers lost to the Houston Rockets, 124-103, in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals.

The Clippers lead the series, 3-2. Game 6 is at Staples Center on Thursday night.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers clobbered the Miami Marlins, 11-1. Andre Ethier and Howie Kendrick hit solo home runs.

The Dodgers have won five games in a row. They wrap up their series against the Marlins tonight.

Carlos Frias starts for the Dodgers against Jarred Cosart for the Marlins.

First pitch is at 4:50.
