The Valencia Vikings (15-16) won their Wild Card game 4-3 over Oaks Christian in walk-off fashion, thanks to a wild pitch that scored Luke Chung in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Chung, the Foothill League batting champ, went 2-for-3 with a walk and the double that set him up to score. “I knew I had to get on base someway, somehow … and thanks to Lukas White and the other guys, they were able to move me over and luckily on that last play I was able to score,” said Chung after the game.
Fellow senior Jake Biscailuz provided the rest of the offense in the fifth inning with a 3-run homer to left field, his second of the season.
Valencia’s win yesterday didn’t go without some controversy though, as grainy video surfaced of the team taking “front toss” prior to the game. Oaks Christian officially protested the game, but the CIF Southern Section has upheld the Vikings win today and they will move on.
Move on to face the No. 3 team in the country, Harvard-Westlake, according to Baseball America. First pitch is at 3:15.

Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers (17-26) were able to avoid the sweep in Miami and snap a six-game losing streak in Thursday’s 7-0 matinee win.
Justin Turner looks to be assimilating back in to the lineup nicely, going 3-for-4 with five RBIs in the win. In just his first series of action in 2018, he hit .462. Safe to say it’s good to have the Dodgers’ best hitter back.
Don’t look now, but the guy showing the most consistency at the plate so far this season is not someone many would have expected. That title goes to Matt Kemp, whose average is up to .318 with a 3-for-4 day of his own.
The starting rotation continues to absorb the blows of injury, and churn out quality starts. Kenta Maeda was at his best today, tossing eight innings of scoreless ball with eight strikeouts.
Los Angeles heads to Washington D.C. for a weekend series with the Nationals. First pitch tomorrow is at 4:05 with Ross Stripling up against Max Scherzer.
