Santa Clarita Sports Report: May 22, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: May 22, 2015 – The Saugus baseball team shut out Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks, 10-0, in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.

Notre Dame was the No. 4 seed in the playoffs. Saugus had to play in the wild-card round to advance to the first round of the playoffs.

Saugus scored six runs in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead. Caden Salkeld capped the big inning with a grand slam. He drove in five runs in the game.

Saugus is home for its next playoffs game against Capistrano Valley on Tuesday.

The Hart baseball team shut out Alemany, 3-0, in their first round playoff game.

Jack Ralston tossed a two-hitter.

Hart plays Calabasas on Tuesday.

The Valencia baseball team shut out Loyola, 1-0, in their first round playoff game.

Kevin Chandler pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts.

The Trinity Classical Academy baseball team beat Coast Union, 3-2, in the first round of the Southern Section Division 7 playoffs.

The Santa Clarita Christian baseball team beat Newbury Park Adventist, 19-2, in the first round of the Division 7 playoffs.

The Albert Einstein Academy baseball team lost to Animo Leadership, 10-0, in their first round playoff game.

In high school softball, West Ranch shut out Edison, 2-0, in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.

The Valencia softball team beat Charter Oak, 2-1 in eight innings, in its first round playoff game.

The Hart softball team lost to Canyon of Anaheim, 10-0, in its first round playoff game.

The Santa Clarita Christian softball team lost to Coastal Union, 8-1, in the first round of the Southern Section Division 7 playoffs.

Los Angeles Sports

In the major leagues, the Dodgers lost to the Giants in San Francisco, 4-0. The Giants swept the Dodgers in their three-game series. The Dodgers were shut out in all three games.

The Dodgers are back home to start a weekend series against the San Diego Padres tonight.

First pitch is at 7:10.
