Two days after the Vikings exorcised the Pacifica demons from the 2015 season (Pacifica knocked Valenciaa out of the playoffs in the second round last year and returned the favor this season), the defending Division 1 champions come to town.

Norco (fourth in the state and the sixth ranked team in the country) defeated Foothill League-rival West Ranch in the finals last season and are looking to do more damage to Foothill League softball on Thursday. Both teams come into this matchup as the hottest teams in the CIF-Southern Section on ten game winning streaks.

Something will have to give in this game. The Vikings allow the fourth-fewest amount of runs of the quarter-finalists while the Cougars have scored the second-most runs of the teams remaining in the tournament.

Thursday’s CIF-SS Division 1 Playoff Softball Quarterfinal:

No. 4 Norco (25-5) vs Valencia (21-9) at 3:15 pm

Los Angeles Dodgers

Scott Kazmir struck out an impressive twelve Reds on Wednesday, as the Dodgers (25-23) completed the sweep with a 3-1 victory. Joc Pederson hit a 2-run single in the fourth inning and Yasmani Grandal hit a solo shot for the insurance run in the fifth.

Thursday is a travel day for Los Angeles. They head across the country to Citi Field for a weekend series with the 27-19 New York Mets.
