Santa Clarita High School Softball

Norco knocked off a Foothill League team deep in the playoffs for the second straight year.

Valencia was able to manufacture a run, but the Cougars were able to squeeze a little bit more offense out of the game than the Vikings in an otherwise even matchup to slip out of Santa Clarita with a 2-1 win.

Shea O’Leary pitched another complete game striking out five batters and allowing just the two runs. The sophomore returns to this Valencia squad as one of the top pitchers in the area next season.

Santa Clarita High School Baseball

It’s a big day for Foothill League playoff baseball, as the remaining teams are up against two of the top five teams in the country. First pitch is at 3:15 for all playoff games.

Friday’s CIF-SS Division 1 Playoff Schedule:

No. 2 JSerra (26-6) vs Hart (20-11)

No. 4 El Toro (25-5) vs West Ranch (23-8)

Academy for Academic Excellence (16-6) vs No. 2 Santa Clarita Christian (13-5)

The Master’s College

Today, the NAIA World Series opens in Lewiston, Idaho. TMC is one of ten teams competing for a national championship in the double-elimination tournament.

NAIA World Series Game 1:

Lindsey Wilson College vs The Master’s College at 12:00 pm

Los Angeles Dodgers

Tonight, the Dodgers (25-23) open a weekend series with the New York Mets at Citi Field and its a big day for the organization.

Nineteen-year-old left-hander Julio Urias is set to make his Major League debut Friday against Jacob deGrom. The Mexican international was called up from Triple-A after Alex Wood was scratched with a sore triceps.

He is the youngest Dodgers’ pitching prospect to earn a Major League start in over 35 years. The last? One, Fernando Valenzuela, a fellow left-handed phenom.

First pitch is at 4:10, and listen live for the game on AM-1220 KHTS.
