Santa Clarita Sports Report: May 28, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: May 28, 2015 – The Valencia boys volleyball team lost to Mira Costa in the first round of the CIF Southern California Division 1 playoffs.

Valencia lost in three games to Mira Costa, ranked No. 8 in the nation by Max Preps.

Valencia ends its season with a 32-8 record. The Vikings reached the championship match in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs and lost to Oak Park.

The Valencia boys reached the CIF Southern California playoffs for the first time since 2012.

In the CIF baseball playoffs, Santa Clarita Christian shut out Valley Christian Academy, 10-0, in the second round of the Southern Section Division 7 playoffs.

Santa Clarita Christian starter Clint Ross pitched six scoreless innings and struck out 11 batters.

The Trinity Classical Academy baseball team beat Hillcrest Christian, 6-4, in the second round of the Southern Section Division 7 playoffs.

Trinity took the lead in the game in the sixth inning. Caleb Wilson drove in the tying run with a double. He was 4-for-4 in the game. The Knights took the lead on a wild pitch later in the inning.

The Albert Einstein Academy baseball team lost to Animo Leadership, 10-0, in the second round of the Southern Section Division 7 playoffs.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers lost to the Atlanta Braves, 3-2. Alex Guerrero hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to cut the Braves lead to one run.

But that was as close as the Dodgers would get.

The Dodgers are off to St. Louis to start a series against the Cardinals on Friday night.
