Santa Clarita Sports Report – May 3, 2018

Santa Clarita High School Baseball

Wednesday Scoreboard:

Valencia: 3

West Ranch: 2

Lukas White allowed one earned run in five and two-third innings, then sophomore Ryan Kyzar came in to complete the four out save and help the Vikings draw even with West Ranch at 8-4. Second place will be on the line at Valencia on Friday.

Hart: 10

Canyon: 0

The Indians have won six straight league games and sit two games ahead of Valencia and West Ranch at 10-2.

Saugus: 4

Golden Valley: 3

The Grizzlies rallied from down 3-0 to tie the game in the sixth inning, but the Centurions walked off on Anthony Ramirez’s base hit in the bottom of the seventh. Grizzlies fall to 0-12 in Foothill League, Saugus 6-6.

Wednesday Scoreboard:

West Ranch: 3

Saugus: 0

The Wildcats class of 2018 cemented its boys volleyball legacy, completing the third consecutive undefeated league campaign at 30-0. They only lost one set in the Foothill League all season.

Valencia: 3

Canyon: 0

Valencia finishes 8-2 in league play and on a five-game winning streak heading to the playoffs.

Hart: 3

Golden Valley: 0

Hart kept its at-large playoff possibilities alive with a season-closing sweep over Golden Valley.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Hyun-Jin Ryu exited the game in the second inning with an injury, but the Dodgers’ bullpen finally showed flashes of their 2017 dominance with 7 2/3 innings of one run baseball. Kenley Jansen allowed a run in the ninth inning, still searching for his form as we get into May.

At least L.A. got in the win column.

The series finale will be a matinee at Chase Field with a 12:40 start. Alex Wood will start on the bump for the Dodgers.
