Santa Clarita Sports Report: November 05, 2014: The West Ranch girls tennis team won its wild-card match in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs.

West Ranch beat Atascadero, 13-5, to move into the first round of the playoffs.

Cori Raffish and Julia van der Colff, the No. 3 doubles team for West Ranch, swept their sets, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.

West Ranch plays Beverly Hills, the No. 4 seed in the Division 2 playoffs, today.

In high school volleyball, the Saugus girls swept Canyon in three games in the Foothill League finale.

Saugus won its last two Foothill League matches and finished in third place with a 6-4 record.

Canyon dropped to 3-7 in league.

The West Ranch girls swept Golden Valley in three games.

West Ranch is 3-7 in league. Golden Valley went 0-11.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls beat Trinity Classical Academy, 3-1, in a Heritage League match.

Santa Clarita Christian went undefeated in the Heritage League at 9-0.

Trinity is 15-10 and 4-4 in league.

In the NBA, the Lakers lost to the Phoenix Suns, 112-106. The Lakers are 0-5 to start the season.

They play the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.

In the NHL, the Kings beat the Dallas Stars, 3-1, and snapped their four-game losing streak.

The Kings scored two goals in the third period to break a 1-1 tie.

The Kings take on the New York Islanders at Staples Center on Thursday.
