Santa Clarita sports report, November 25, 2015. This is your place for Santa Clarita’s winter 2015/16 sports. Find all the latest news and updates on your hometown schools here as they compete in the Western State Conference, Foothill League, Heritage League and GSAC.

Hold your loved ones close, and be thankful for each day with them.

Santa Clarita High School Volleyball

Two SCV teams entered the California State Volleyball Championships Tuesday, and just one survived.

Valencia faced an uphill battle at Mater Dei and it proved to be too steep for the Vikings, who fell 3-0 in Santa Ana. Congratulations, ladies, on a hard-fought 2015 campaign.

SCCS is alive and well after a 3-1 home victory against Central City Value Tuesday night, advancing to the 2nd round where they’ll face Frazier Mountain this Saturday on Bross Court at The Master’s College.

The No. 2 Cardinals split the first games against CCVHS but shut the door in the final two sets to get the victory. With No. 1 Upland Christian also advancing, the two teams still look to be on a collision course for the Division V State Semi-Finals.

Santa Clarita High School Basketball

Golden Valley (1-0) opened the 2015/16 season with a successful road trip to Lancaster, besting the Eagles, 74-67. They now have a week to prepare for the Burbank Tournament and their first opponent, Canoga Park. Tip-off will be at 6:30 PM, December 1st.

Santa Clarita High School Girls Basketball

Make it a 1-0 start to the season for the Valencia girls’ basketball team, as they disposed of West High School in dominating fashion, 68-38, in the opening game of the Palisades Tournament. Valencia’s next opponent is still to be determined.

Santa Clarita High School Soccer

The West Ranch Wildcats dropped their season opener on the road to Newbury Park, 2-0. The ‘Cats will have eight days to regroup before heading back out to the Simi Valley for a match against the Simi Valley Pioneers, December 2nd. Kickoff will be at 6:45 PM.

Los Angeles Lakers

Another game, another embarrassing performance for one of the most successful franchises in professional sports. The LA Lakers were taught a lesson in team basketball Tuesday night, destroyed by the Golden State Warriors, 111-77.

It was a woeful performance across the board, but look no further than Lakers legend and 25 Million Dollar Man, Kobe Bryant. Bryant shot 1-14 in the game, matching his worst career shooting night as a pro.

At 2-12, it may already be time to start the countdown to the 2016 NBA Draft.
