Santa Clarita Sports Report: October 15, 2014

Santa Clarita Sports Report: The Master’s College women’s soccer team lost to Vanguard, 5-1, in a matchup of top 25 teams in the NAIA.

Vanguard, ranked No. 14 in the NAIA, scored four goals in the second half.

Katie Farris scored the only goal for The Master’s College, ranked No. 11 in the NAIA.

The Lady Mustangs improved to 9-4-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the Golden State Athletic Conference.

The College of the Canyons men’s soccer team is ranked ninth in the state. The Cougars are unbeaten in their past eight games and have won four Western State Conference games in a row.

COC tied Oxnard 1-1 and ran its record to 6-1-3 overall.

In the NHL, the Kings beat the visiting Edmonton Oilers, 6-1, and won its second game in a row.

Tanner Pearson scored two goals. The Kings took a 3-0 lead in the first period.

Next up for the Kings are the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night.
