Santa Clarita Sports Report: October 24, 2014

Santa Clarita Sports Report: October 24, 2014: It’s Week 3 of the Foothill League high school football season. Canyon takes on Saugus in a crucial game for playoff position.

Both teams are 1-1. Canyon is coming off its first league win of the season, 28-10, over Golden Valley.

Saugus lost to Valencia, 56-19, last week.

Listen to the game tonight on AM 1220 KHTS. Coverage begins at 7:15. Kickoff is at 7:30.

The Valencia football team is looking to go 3-0 in league. The Vikings take on West Ranch at Valencia High School.

The Hart football team is also looking to go 3-0. The Indians play Golden Valley tonight.

In college football, the College of the Canyons is home against Allan Hancock College on Saturday.

COC is 2-4 and coming off a 44-26 loss to Saddleback College two weeks ago.

Listen to the game between COC and Allan Hancock on AM 1220 KHTS. Kickoff is at 4 on Saturday.

In college soccer, The Master’s College men beat Johnson and Wales from Colorado, 2-1, scoring both goals in the second half.

Scott Landon and Brett Croft scored for the Mustangs. The Master’s College men improved to 9-6-1.

Los Angeles Kings News

In the NHL, the Kings shut out the visiting Buffalo Sabres, 2-0. Jonathan Quick made 29 saves and set the Kings franchise record for shutouts with the 33rd of his career. He broke the mark set by Rogie Vachon.

The Kings have won five games in a row. Next up are the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday.

Kyle Jellings grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley and graduated from Canyon High School in 2004. Following his high school career he spent three years at College of the Canyons where he graduated with his Associate's Degree. Kyle then traveled to Utah where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Communication: Journalism emphasis from Utah Valley University. While in Utah, Kyle had the opportunity to do many different internships which included a Production Assistant at ESPN 700 and a Media Relations Assistant with the 2009 MLS Cup Champions Real Salt Lake. Kyle was married to his wife Paola in 2008 and they had their first child, Calvin, in August of 2010. When Kyle is not at KHTS he enjoys spending time with his family and being involved in sports in any way.
