Santa Clarita Sports Report: October 27, 2014

The Valencia football team shut out West Ranch, 41-0, and improved to 3-0 in the Foothill League standings.

Valencia scored three touchdowns in the second quarter. Jay Jay Wilson scored two touchdowns for Valencia.

In other action in the Foothill League, Hart beat Golden Valley, 38-24, and kept pace with Valencia in the Foothill League standings.

Hart improved to 3-0 in league and is tied with Valencia for first place.

Trent Irwin caught seven passes for 163 yards and scored two touchdowns for Hart.

The Canyon football team beat Saugus, 28-20, in a game heard live on AM 1220 KHTS.

The Cowboys improved to 2-1 in league. Saugus dropped to 1-2.

The Trinity Classical Academy football team shut out Animo Leadership, 62-0, and won its seventh game in a row.

Tyler Lee accounted for four touchdowns for Trinity. The freshman quarterback threw three touchdown passes and scored a rushing touchdown.

Trinity, the No. 1 ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 8-man poll, improved to 7-1.

The Santa Clarita Christian football team lost to The Webb Schools, 55-28, in a San Joaquin League game.

It was the first league loss of the season for Santa Clarita Christian.

Santa Clarita Christian dropped to 2-1 in league.

In college football, the College of the Canyons beat Allan Hancock College, 37-20, in a National Division, Northern Conference game.

COC improved to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in conference.

World Series 2014

In the major leagues, the Giants shut out the Royals, 5-0, in Game 5 of the World Series.

Giants starter Madison Bumgarner went the distance. The Giants lead the series, 3-2.

Game 6 is in Kansas City on Tuesday.

Los Angeles Kings News

In the NHL, the Kings beat the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets, 5-2. The Kings scored three goals in the second period.

The Kings went 6-0 in their latest homestand. They take their six-game winning streak on the road against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.
