Santa Clarita Sports Report – October 6, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report – October 6, 2015 – This is your place for Santa Clarita’s slate of fall 2015 sports. Keep it here for news and updates on your hometown schools as they compete in the Western State Conference, Foothill League, Heritage League and GSAC.

Santa Clarita High School Football

Fresh off their 29-21 win over Ventura Friday, the Hart Indians moved up one spot in the West Valley Division rankings and now sit at #7 as league play opens this week. They are the only Foothill League school to rank in the top 10 at any point this season.

COC Football

The undefeated #2 Cougars are unmoved in the California Community College rankings and have been firmly entrenched as the 2nd best team in southern California the past three weeks.

Girls Volleyball

Valencia was swept out of a tournament over the weekend, falling to Notre Dame Prep, Lewis-Palmer and Basha. They are back on the court @ Golden Valley Thursday evening.

West Ranch will take a break from league play tonight when they host Flintridge Sacred Heart.

In the Heritage League, both of our schools are in action tonight.

Number one ranked Santa Clarita Christian is on the road to Guidance Center. The Cardinals have been the top team in Division 5AA all season long.

Trinity Classical Academy hosts Faith Baptist in afternoon matchup. The Knights (15-6-1) are looking to pose a real threat to the Cardinals for the Heritage crown.

Dodgers – Postseason Baseball

The Dodgers have released their 2015 playoff roster. It features eight home grown players such as Clayton Kershaw, and 13 players acquired via trade like Adrian Gonzalez. Kenley Jansen will look to shut the door on each game, amongst other factors that will be important to the Dodgers success.

You always need your players in contract years to have great runs, and Justin Turner and Zack Greinke are looking to do just that.

There will be more to come on the postseason as we inch closer to the first pitch Friday night.

KHTS AM-1220 is your place for the Los Angeles Dodgers 2015 Postseason run.
