Santa Clarita High School Volleyball

Through the first three games of the Foothill League season, West Ranch (3-0) has emerged as a serious contender for the league title.

The Wildcats scored a big road win Thursday night, dropping Hart (1-2) 3-1 in the teams first meeting, and the team is unbeaten its past eight matches (7-0-1).

Valencia (2-1) bounced back from a road loss at West Ranch earlier this week to sweep Saugus (2-1) at home and pull the teams even in second place.

SCCS fell to the Archer School for Girls on the road, 3-1.

Saturday, West Ranch will compete in the Royal Classic out in Simi Valley. The Wildcats play the hosts, Royal HS, and San Marino.

COC Football

After getting run out of Fullerton in a 59-14 loss last week, it won’t get any easier for the Canyons Cougars this Saturday as they face another CCCAA top-10 team on the road.

No. 15 Canyons travels to No. 6 Long Beach for a showdown at 6 pm.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers magic number is shrinking by the day, this time thanks to Yasmani Grandal it is down to 4.

The Dodgers catcher hit a go-ahead grand slam in the seventh inning, his 27th of the season, to lift LA to a 7-4 win over the Colorado Rockies on Thursday night. It capped off a 4-1 comeback after the fifth inning, the tenth time this season the Dodgers have won when trailing six innings or later in a ballgame.

It was also the 44th Dodgers win overall when coming from behind at any point. Clutch hitting and the team continuing to get healthy at the right time, Los Angeles is rounding in to postseason form.

The Dodgers finish a four-game series with the Rockies this weekend before the final six game road trip next week. Tonight, Scott Kazmir is back on the mound and fighting to make the postseason roster. First pitch is at 7:10 pm and you can listen to high school football on KHTS for scoring updates.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams embark on their first cross-country road trip from an LA this week as they head to Tampa Bay to play the Buccaneers on Sunday. Luckily for the road team, kickoff is at 1:05 pm Pacific Time.

LA Rams vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

1:05 pm Raymond James Stadium
