Santa Clarita Sports Report – September 27, 2017

Santa Clarita High School Volleyball

Tuesday’s scores:

Saugus: 3

Golden Valley: 0

Caitlin Liebe led the Centurions with 16 kills as Saugus (3-0) overcame an early ankle injury to Grace Engle to get the sweep.

West Ranch: 1

Valencia: 3

The Vikings dropped the opening game but rattled off wins in the next three without allowing the Wildcats to reach 20 points. Valencia (2-1) visits Saugus today for a big match in determining the top of the Foothill League.

Hart: 3

Canyon: 1

The Indians pick up the road win at Canyon to keep pace with Saugus atop the Foothill League standings. They take on West Ranch tomorrow.

Trinity 2

Faith Baptist 3

The Knights dropped their first league game of the season with a tough five-set match at Faith Baptist. Trinity won the first game 25-13, with the final four games separated by a combined 14 points.

Valencia (5-2, 2-1) vs Saugus (9-2, 3-0) at 5:30

COC Soccer

The Canyons soccer teams got swept on Tuesday by a pair of dominant teams at Santa Barbara City College. The men fell to SBCC, 3-0, while the women were shutout 2-0.

Both teams will travel on Friday (men at Santa Monica and women at Oxnard).

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers scored put another nine runs up on the Padres, cruising to win No. 101 and securing homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.

It was the 56th home win of the season for LA, setting a new franchise record for home wins in the regular season. They’ll try to add to the record this evening in the final home game of the regular season.

First pitch is at 7:00.
