The high school football season starts tonight with five teams from the Foothill League in action.

Hart, ranked No. 3 in the recently released CIF Southern Section West Valley Division poll, takes on Chino Hills on the road.

Canyon is home for its opener against Westlake from the Pac-5 Division.

Saugus plays Simi Valley at College of the Canyons.

West Ranch is on the road against San Marcos in the first meeting between the two schools.

Golden Valley takes on Granada Hills.

In auto racing, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West makes its annual visit to Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield on Saturday night.

Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley has won the previous two K&N Pro Series West races at Kern County Raceway Park. He leads the Pro Series West standings and is in search of his second championship

Santa Clarita’s Rich DeLong III is also entered in the race.

The NASCAR Citgo Late Models and Spec Mods are also set to race on Saturday night. The green flag drops at 7.

Connie and her husband, John, moved to the Santa Clarita Valley almost 30 years ago. Living in Santa Clarita for that long is the direct opposite of Connie’s childhood.
