Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update June 2, 2014

In high school track and field, three athletes from the Foothill League will compete in the CIF State track and field meet in Clovis.

Brian Zabilski from Saugus qualified in the 3,200. Brett Molster from Canyon will compete in the high jump. Nathan Bultman from West Ranch qualified in the shot put.

Zabilski broke the Saugus school record in the 3,200 in 8 minutes, 59.98 seconds. He finished in third place in his Masters Meet race.

Molster cleared 6 feet, 7 inches and finished in third place at the Masters Meet. The top jumpers cleared 6 feet, 9 inches.

Bultman shot the put 61 feet, 3 ¾ inches and finished in third place in the Masters Meet.

In high school baseball, Santa Clarita Christian lost to Riverside Prep, 10-7, in the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 7 playoffs.

The Cardinals were down 8-0 in the fifth inning.

Santa Clarita Christian finished the season with a 20-2 overall record.

Los Angeles Sports Report

The Los Angeles Kings made seven their lucky number in the NHL playoffs. They did it again in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Kings beat the Blackhawks, 5-4, in overtime to advance to the Stanley Cup final. The Kings are 7-0 in elimination games during these playoffs. They went seven games against the Sharks and seven game against the Ducks in the earlier rounds.

The Kings take on the New York Rangers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final on Wednesday.

In the major leagues, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-3, and dropped three of four games to the visiting bucs over the weekend.

The Dodgers start a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox tonight at the Ravine.

Clayton Kershaw starts for the Dodgers against Jose Quintana for the White Sox.
