The Santa Clarita Blue Heat women’s soccer team lost to Seattle Sounders, 2-1, in a USL W-League game.
The Blue Heat took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by Kassandra Massey in the 28th minute.
The Sounders tied the score in the second half. The game-winner came in the 78th minute.
The Blue Heat dropped to 3-4. Their next game is against the LA Blues on Thursday.

In the World Cup, the United States were within seconds of advancing to the knockout round, but had to settle for a draw against Portugal.
Portugal scored the equalizer in the fifth minute of injury time and tied the United States, 2-2, in pool play.
The United States was down 1-0 at halftime, but scored two goals in the second half to take the lead. Clint Dempsey’s put the US ahead with his second goal of the World Cup.
Portugal tied the score on the final shot of the game.
The United States plays Germany in its final pool play game on Thursday.

In the major leagues, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres, 2-1. Hyun-Jin Ryu won his ninth game of the season. The Dodgers took two of three games against the Padres and have won five of their past six games.
The Dodgers are off to Kansas City to start a series against the Royals in interleague play.
Zack Greinke starts for the Dodgers against Jeremy Guthrie for the Royals.
