In high school golf, Golden Valley’s Jonathan Kang shot a 3-over 74 in the CIF Southern Section boys individual championship at Mission Lakes Country Club in Desert Hot Springs.
He finished in a tie for 15th place and qualified for the CIF/SCGA Regional State tournament at Brookside Country Club in Pasadena.
Kang was one of four golfers from the Foothill League in the Southern Section individual championship. Kang made the cut by two strokes.

In high school baseball, Valencia lost to JSerra Catholic, 6-5, in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.
The Vikings were eliminated. They finished with an 18-10 overall record.
The Santa Clarita Christian baseball team beat Riverside Christian, 10-1, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Division 7 playoffs.
Santa Clarita Christian starter Clint Ross gave up one run on five hits in six innings and improved to 8-1.
The Cardinals will play Riverside Prep at The Master’s College on Friday.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers beat the Cincinnati Reds, 6-3, and won their third game in a row. Zack Greinke struck out 11 and won his eighth game of the season.
The Dodgers can go for the sweep of the Reds tonight. Clayton Kershaw starts for the Dodgers against Homer Bailey for the Reds.
