Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update October 07, 2014

The Valencia football dropped to No. 7 in the CIF Southern Section West Valley Division after a crushing 72-42 defeat to Centennial of Corona.

Valencia was ranked No. 4 entering the game. The Vikings are 3-2 entering the first week of Foothill League play.

The Hart football team moved up a spot to No. 5 in the West Valley Division. The Indians had a bye last week. They are 3-2 but have won three games in a row.

Tesoro is the No. 1 team in the West Valley Division.

The Trinity Classical Academy football team moved up to No. 2 in the Southern Section Division 2 8-man poll.

Trinity beat Sun Valley, 77-8, and improved to 4-1.

In girls volleyball, Valencia is ranked No. 4 in the Southern Section Division 1A poll. The Vikings are 12-1 and 2-0 in the Foothill League.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls volleyball team is ranked No. 2 in the Southern Section Division 5AA poll. The Trinity Classical Academy girls are No. 9 in Division 5AA.

The Albert Einstein Academy girls are No. 10 in the Southern Section Division 5A poll.

In high school cross country, the Saugus boys are ranked No. 1 in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 poll.

The West Ranch boys are tied with Redondo Union for No. 10 in the Southern Section Division 2 poll.

The Saugus girls are No. 1 in the Southern Section Division 2 poll.

Los Angeles Dodgers Updates And News

In the major leagues, the Nationals beat the Giants, 4-1, in Game 3 of their National League Division Series. The Nationals avoided elimination and lived to see another game.

The Giants lead the series, 2-1. Game 4 is today in San Francisco.

The Dodgers lost to the Cardinals, 3-1, in Game 3 of their National League Division Series.

The Cardinals lead the series, 2-1.

Game 4 is in St. Louis today. Clayton Kershaw starts for the Dodgers against Shelby Miller for the Cardinals.
