The Foothill League football season begins tonight with all six teams in action.

The Valencia football team plays Golden Valley at Canyon High School. The Vikings are the reigning Foothill League champions and ranked No. 6 in the CIF Southern Section West Valley Division. They are 3-2.

Golden Valley is 3-2, but has never won a Foothill League game.

Santa Clarita High School Football

Hart is ranked No. 4 in the Southern Section West Valley Division and has a three-game winning streak. They are 3-2.

Canyon is 2-3 and coming off a 49-32 loss to St. Francis two weeks ago.

The Saugus football team is on the road against West Ranch at Valencia High.

Saugus is 1-4 and lost two games in a row.

West Ranch is 2-3, but also lost two games in a row.

In a matchup of 8-man football teams, the Trinity Classical Academy plays Albert Einstein Academy tonight. Kickoff is at 4 at West Ranch High.

The Santa Clarita Christian football team plays Southlands Christian in a San Joaquin League game on Saturday.

The College of the Canyons football team plays Saddleback College on Saturday. COC is 2-3 and coming off a 38-35 win over Bakersfield College last week.

In high school tennis, the Valencia girls made quick work of West Ranch, 14-4. The Vikings are undefeated at 14-0 and 6-0 in the Foothill League.

Valencia’s No. 1 singles player Jennifer Shin swept her sets, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0.

The Hart girls tennis team beat Canyon, 15-3. Hart is 10-2 and 5-1 in the Foothill League.

The Saugus girls beat Golden Valley, 15-3. Saugus is 10-5 and evened its record at 3-3 in league.
