Karis Frankian from The Master’s College was selected as the NAIA runner of the week.
Frankian, a Saugus High graduate, won the women’s 5K race at The Mustang Challenge at Central Park over the weeked. She completed the course in 17 minutes, 53.3 seconds and led her team to a third place finish in the meet.
The Master’s College women’s cross country team is ranked No. 17 in the NAIA.

In college volleyball, The Master’s College women swept La Sierra College, 3-0.
The Lady Mustangs improved to 10-7.
In college soccer, The Master’s College women tied with Concordia, 1-1, in the Golden State Athletic Conference opener in Irvine.

The Lady Mustangs are 5-2-1 overall. Concordia is ranked No. 7 in the NAIA.
In high school golf, the West Ranch girls won the third Foothill League match of the season. The Wildcats have won all three league meets.
Golden Valley’s Elisa Pierre shot the low round of the match, a 1-over 37 at the Balboa Municipal Golf Course. Pierre shot the low round for the third time in a row.
Golden Valley was second in the match followed by Valencia in third.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers beat the Giants, 9-1, and clinched the National League West championship.
Clayton Kershaw went eight innings and gave up one run on eight hits with 11 strikeouts. He won his 21st game of the season. He also tripled and drove in the Dodgers first run of the game in the fifth inning.
