Santa Clarita Sports: West Ranch And Saugus Softball Battle For First Place

The West Ranch and Saugus softball teams meet today in a battle for first place in the Foothill League standings.

West Ranch and Saugus are tied for first place with 2-0 records. West Ranch is coming off a 9-4 win over Canyon. Saugus beat Hart in its last game, 12-1.

The game is at Saugus. First pitch is at 3:15.

The Canyon softball team plays Valencia. Both teams are 1-1 in the Foothill League standings. Valencia beat Golden Valley, 13-3, in its last Foothill League game.

Hart takes on Golden Valley. Both teams are 0-2 and looking for their first Foothill League win of the season.

In college baseball, the College of the Canyons plays LA Mission College in a Western State Conference game today.

COC is 17-15-1 overall and 13-5 in conference.

In the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Golden State Warriors, 138-98, in Game 2 of their opening round playoff series.

The series is tied at one game apiece. Game 3 is in Oakland on Thursday.

In the major leagues, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-0. Carlos Ruiz and Ryan Howard homered for the Phillies. The Dodgers collected only four hits in the game.

Game 2 of the series between the Dodgers and the Phillies is tonight. Hyun-Jin Ryu starts for the Dodgers against AJ Burnett for the Phillies. First pitch is at 7:10.

In the NHL, the Los Angeles Kings and the San Jose Sharks hit the Staples Center ice for Game 3 of their first round Stanley Cup playoff series.

The Sharks are up 2-0 in the series. Kings goalie Jonathan Quick has given up 12 goals in the first two games.
