Santa Clarita Sports: West Ranch And Valencia Tennis Advance In Playoffs

The return of the Kings led to a 2-1 win over the Ducks in Game 6 of the NHL playoffs. The quest for Lord Stanley’s cup is still alive for the Kings.

The series is tied 3-3. The Kings won the first two games of the series. The Ducks won the next three in a row.

The Kings evened things up in Game 6. Game 7 is in Anaheim on Friday night.

In high school tennis, the West Ranch and Valencia boys advanced in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs.

Hart and Golden Valley were knocked out of the playoffs.

West Ranch beat St. Margaret’s, 13-5.

Valencia had a tough time against Claremont, but won, 10-8.

Hart lost to Windward, 11-7.

Golden Valley lost to Pasadena Poly, 14-4.

In high school softball, West Ranch and Saugus won their games and remained tied for first place in the Foothill League standings.

Saugus beat Canyon, 6-2. Kaela Morrow hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning. The Centurions scored four runs in the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie.

West Ranch toppled Golden Valley, 17-4. The Wildcats hit four home runs in the game. Jessica Harper went 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs.

Saugus and West Ranch have 8-1 records and sit atop the Foothill League.

Valencia beat Hart, 15-12.Dominique Salgado drove in five runs for Valencia.

The Vikings are 6-3 and in third place in the Foothill League. Hart dropped to 1-8.

In high school volleyball, all four teams from the Foothill League in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs lost their first-round matches.

Valencia lost in five games to Thousand Oaks.

West Ranch was swept by St. John Bosco in three games.

Canyon was swept by Santa Margarita.

Saugus lost in four games to San Juan Hills.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers lost to the Marlins, 13-3, in a laugher.

The Dodgers took two of three games against the Marlins. They have the day off today and start a weekend series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.
