Santa Clarita Sports: West Ranch Softball Remains Perfect In League

The Hart boys golf team won the Foothill League match at Robinson Ranch’s mountain course by two strokes over West Ranch.

Three golfers from Hart broke 80. Cory David shot a 4-over 76. Nick Negrosa was 6-over at 78 and Michael Lotta shot a 7-over 79.

West Ranch’s Danny DiMaria shot the low round of the match, a 3-over 75.

In high school softball, West Ranch shut out Golden Valley, 11-0, and improved to 4-0 in the Foothill League standings.

The Wildcats took a 6-0 lead in the second inning and collected 14 hits in the game.

Lauren Lindvall went 4-for-5 with a double and drove in two runs for West Ranch.

The Valencia softball team beat Hart, 6-5. Brittany Ross-Smith drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Dominique Salgado hit a grand slam in the third inning for the Vikings.

The Saugus softball team beat Canyon, 12-1. Saugus hit three home runs in the game, one each by Cayla Kessinger, Ty Cueva and Kaela Morrow.

In auto racing, the NASCAR Late Models highlight a night of racing at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield with twin 35s on Saturday night.

The Spec-Mods, mini stocks, Legends and Bandoleros are also on tap to race. The green flag drops at 7.

In the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Golden State Warriors in Game 3 of the western Confernce Quartfinals 98-96. Clippers’ Blake Griffin scored 32 points and eight rebounds on the night. The series is tied 1-1, game 4 is scheduled for Sunday at Golden State with tip-off at 12:30 PM.

In the NHL, the Los Angeles Kings stayed alive in the playoffs with a 6-3 win over the San Jose Sharks. The Kings now trail the Sharks in the seris 3 games to 1. The series goes back to San Jose for game 5, puck drops at 7 PM.

In the major leagues, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the visiting Philadelphia Philies 7-3. The Dodgers gave up four runs in the top of the ninth inning and couldn’t rally back to get the victory. 

The Dodgers start a weekend series against the Colorado Rockies tonight at Dodger Stadium. Josh Beckett starts for the Dodgers against Jordan Lyles for the Rockies.
