Santa Clarita Sports: West Ranch Softball Team Wins Consolation Championship

The West Ranch softball team won the consolation championship at the Best of the West tournament. The Wildcats beat Saugus, 9-5, in the consolation championship game.

Lauren Lindvall went 2-for-4, hit a home run and drove in four runs for West Ranch.

The Wildcats shut out King High, 1-0, in the consolation semifinals. West Ranch starter Lexi Sorenson tossed a three-hitter against King.

In high school baseball, Saugus beat Bonita, 5-1, in the Redondo Tournament. Saugus starter Chase Wheatcroft gave up one run on six hits.

In high school basketball, Ryan Brooks was selected as the CIF Southern Section Division 6 player of the year. He was one of three players selected to the All-CIF Division 6 team.

Spencer Klehn and Michael Mateo also earned spots on the All-CIF team. Trinity won the CIF Southern Section Division 6 championship and reached the second round of the CIF State Division 5 Southern California Regional.

Trinity’s John Brooks was selected as the Division 6 coach of the year.

Santa Clarita Christian’s Kamron Carroll earned a spot on the All-CIF Southern Section Division 5A team.

Hart’s Lewis Stallworth was selected to the All-CIF Southern Section Division 2A team.

Canyon’s Kali Vittallo is on the All-CIF Southern Section Division 1A girls team.

In the NHL, the Kings beat the Flyers in Philadelphia, 3-2, and won their third game in a row.

The Kings are in Washington, D.C., for a game against the Capitals tonight. Listen to the game on AM 1220 KHTS. The puck drops at 4:30.
