The Saugus boys basketball team won its sixth game in a row, 68-53, over Oak Park. Saugus is coming off a championship run through the Hart Holiday Classic.
Jeremy Gatewood continued to have the hot hand for Saugus, scoring 21 points against Oak Park.
Brad Buchignani added 18 points for Saugus.
The Valencia boys basketball team won its home opener against Blair, 66-52, behind 13 points from Troy Hammel. Quincy Quintero added 10 in the non-league win.
The West Ranch boys basketball team won its game against Camarillo, 72-66. It was the second win in a row and the eighth win in the past nine games for West Ranch.

The Vasquez girls basketball team beat Lucerne Valley, 54-50, behind a triple-double from Rachelle Beaudion. She scored 29 points, had 11 steals and 10 rebounds.
The Santa Clarita Christian girls soccer team shut out Trinity, 8-0, at The Master’s College. Sophomore Megan Gallagher scored two goals for Santa Clarita Christian.
In college basketball, The Master’s College women beat Biola, 73-65. Theresa Brown scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds for The Master’s College.
The Ohio State football team finally gave the Big 10 a bowl victory. Ohio State beat Arkansas, 31-26, in the Sugar Bowl.
After building a 28-10 halftime lead, Ohio State fought off a second-half charge by Arkansas. Ohio State quarterback Terelle Pryor threw two touchdown passes and linebacker Solomon Thomas came up with an interception with less than a minute to play in the game to secure the win.
Ohio State won its first BCS bowl game against an SEC opponent. The Buckeyes were 0-9 against SEC teams coming into the Sugar Bowl against Arkansas.
The Lakers were back to their winning ways, 108-83, over the visiting Detroit Pistons. Two days after losing to the Memphis Grizzlies by 19 points, the Lakers were able to easily handle the woeful Pistons.
Pau Gasol scored a game-high 21 points and Lamar Odom had 16 off the bench. Kobe Bryant scored 17 points and had eight assists, but he was 6-for-18 from the field.
The Lakers are back at it tonight in Phoenix for a game against the Suns.
