Saugus Girls Soccer Team In Semifinals

Centurions one win away from championship game.

There’s only one team left from the Foothill League in the CIF Southern Section playoffs and it’s the Saugus girls soccer team.

They will be on the road today to face Redlands in the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs. Redlands, the second place team from the Citrus Belt League, is coming off a 1-0 quarterfinal win over Corona del Mar. If you remember, Corona del Mar knocked the Canyon girls out of the playoffs in the second round.

Saugus edged out Crescenta Valley, 1-0, last week to advance to the semifinals of the girls soccer playoffs. Yucaipa and Harvard-Westlake are playing in the other semifinal game. The winners will meet in the championship.

The AYSO Under-12 girls soccer team from Canyon Country has qualified for the State All Star Championships in Davis on March 15. The
Canyon Country girls team beat Santa Barbara, 4-0, in the finals of a sectional tournament in Bakersfield to advance to the state championships.

In college basketball, Ryan Zamroz scored 28 points for The Master’s College, 75-70 winners over Fresno Pacific. The Master’s College women got 23 points from Annie Gillespie in a 67-63 overtime win over Fresno Pacific.
