Saugus Girls Soccer Team Shuts Out Crescenta Valley

The Saugus girls soccer team is in the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section playoffs after winning another nailbiter Thursday.

Saugus shut out Crescenta Valley, 1-0, in their Division II quarterfinal game. Erin Ortega scored the lone goal, with Jillian Allen assisting, moving the Centurions one game closer to a CIF championship. They face Redlands on Tuesday.

The Golden Valley boys basketball team, coming off a stunning quarterfinal win against Foothill, will face Gahr in the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division III-A playoffs tonight at Cerritos College. One more win and Golden Valley will be playing for its first CIF basketball championship in school history.

The College of the Canyons women’s basketball team begins the California Community College playoffs tonight. The Lady Cougars will face Mt. San Jacinto College at COC in the Southern California Regional Semifinal at 7.

The Western States Hockey League playoffs begin tonight at the Valencia Ice Station with the Valencia Flyers hosting the San Diego Gulls in a best of three series. Game time is 7:45.
