It’s been almost a decade, but the Saugus girls volleyball team is back on top of the Foothill League.
Saugus swept Canyon in three games to stay undefeated in league play and clinched at least a share of the its first league title since 2001.
Sarah Blomgren had 11 kills and Ashley Guthrie recorded 31 assists for Saugus.

The West Ranch girls volleyball team beat Hart in four games, led by a trio of Wildcats.
Alexis Clewis, Sarah McGough and Angelica Rutledge each had 11 kills for West Ranch.
Sam Wiese led Hart with 10 kills.
The Santa Clarita Christian girls volleyball team lost to Milken in three games in a Heritage League match.
In high school tennis, the Valencia girls beat Canyon, 18-0. Valencia’s Staci Lowe swept her three sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.
The College of the Canyons women’s soccer team shut out LA Valley College, 3-0, scoring two goals in the second half.
Jessica Guerrero scored two goals and Kristin Grunhold made two saves in goal for the shutout.
Beth Barker added a goal to give COC a 2-0 lead in the second half.
The Master’s College men’s soccer team lost to Biola, 2-0.
The Master’s College women’s volleyball team lost in four games to Fresno Pacific, the No. 8 team in the NAIA.
Samantha Dougherty had 11 kills and 17 digs for The Master’s College. Tami Brown matched Dougherty with a team-high 11 kills.
The Kings found themselves on the wrong end of a shutout, losing 3-0 to the Devils. Kings goaltender Jonathan Bernier, spelling Jonathan Quick and his three straight shutouts, gave up all three goals in the second period.
The Devils snapped the Kings four-game winning streak and won for the first time since Oct. 15.
