Saugus Ice Hockey Team Beats Hart, Stays Undefeated

khts_sportsThe Saugus High ice hockey team is really cooling off the competition at the Ice Station Valencia.

Saugus beat Hart, 3-1, and remained undefeated at 6-0 in the high school ice hockey league.

The Centurions scored three goals in the third period. Aharon Lara, Dillon Thomas and Austin Ehrlich each scored a goal for Saugus.

Joey Cicoria scored the lone goal for Hart.

Canyon won its second game of the season, 5-2, over Valencia. Tristen Poliseno scored two goals and Matt Hoover had three assists for Canyon.

Collin Stell scored both goals for Valencia.

In other games, West Valley beat Bakersfield, 4-3, and the Northerners beat Burbank 12-1.

It’s a big day of high school softball.

The Foothill League is back in action with Valencia on the road against Saugus, the reigning league champs.

West Ranch is at Canyon and Golden Valley is at Hart.

The Trinity Classical Academy softball team is home for a game against Albert Einstein Academy. The Santa Clarita Christian softball team plays Faith Baptist.

In high school baseball, Santa Clarita Christian, the No. 3 ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Division 7 poll, travels to Faith Baptist. Trinity is on the road against Newbury Park Adventist.

In high school track and field, Santa Clarita’s Alex Florent, a freshman at Harvard-Westlake, set the school record in the high jump at the Los Angeles County championship in Downey.

She cleared 5 feet, 10 inches, the best mark in the state and the second best in the nation. She broke her personal best set at the AAU Junior Olympics in New Orleans in August.

In college baseball, The Master’s College beat Vanguard, 9-1, in a Golden State Athletic Conference game.

Spencer Downs was 2-for-4 and drove in two runs for the Mustangs, ranked No. 19 in the NAIA. Steve Karkenny also drove in two runs and Tanner Leighton had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run.
