Saugus, Valencia Advance To Second Round Of CIF Girls Volleyball Playoffs

khts_sportsThe Saugus girls volleyball team swept St. Joseph of Santa Maria in three games in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1A playoffs.

Sarah Blomgren led Saugus with 13 kills. Teammate Hannah Nua had 12 kills and Jaclyn Clark had nine kills and 14 digs.

The Valencia girls volleyball team advanced into the second round of the playoffs with a four-game win over Atascadero.

Sydney Striff led Valencia with 14 kills.

The West Ranch girls volleyball team was eliminated from the playoffs after losing in three games to Beckman in the first round.

Sarah McGough had seven kills to lead West Ranch.

The Trinity Classical Academy girls volleyball  team beat Highland Hall in four games in the first round of the Southern Section Division 5A playoffs.

Julia Howell had 15 kills to lead Trinity. Lizzie McAdams had 13 assists.

In the CIF Southern Section girls tennis playoffs, Hart won its wild-card match, 15-3, over Oxnard. The Hart singles players won eight of their nine sets. No. 1 singles player Jackie Resler won her sets, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0.

In the CIF Southern Section Division 2 8-man football playoffs, the Trinity Classical Academy earned the No. 3 seed and will play Calvary Baptist in the first round on Friday night.

Trinity won the Omega League championship with a 9-0 record. Calvary Baptist played a freelance schedule and was 1-6.

In college volleyball, The Master’s College women beat Vanguard in four games. Samantha Dougherty led The Master’s College with 13 kills and had eight digs.

In hockey, the Kings beat the Predators, 4-3, and snapped their five-game losing streak.

Drew Doughty and Alec Martinez each scored their first goals of the season for the Kings.
